Vestibular Rehabilitation

ATI provides specialized therapy for patients with dizziness and imbalance; these services are known as vestibular rehabilitation.

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)

BPPV is an inner ear disorder that causes a spinning or whirling sensation called vertigo. When the head is moved in certain positions vertigo can occur. BPPV is the cause of approximately 20% of all dizziness.

Symptoms of Vertigo:

	Mild Dizziness
	Imbalance
	Sensation of a Spinning Room
	Nausea

ATI has experienced professionals that specialize in vestibular rehabilitation. These professionals have a multitude of resources to examine patients. Resources include the Dix-Hallpike Test that determines the cause of vertigo based on the pattern of a patients eye moments and Frenzel Goggles that allow ATI therapists to carefully observe the eye for subtle signs of nystagmus, involuntary rhythmic shaking or wobbling eyes.

Customized Treatment:

	Canalith Repositioning/Epley Maneuver - The repositioning of the head with timed head maneuvers.
	Education ATI's physical therapists teach patients proper exercise techniques that they can do at home to maintain optimal health.

	Patients often see improvement within the first session.
	Patients are commonly treated successfully within one to four sessions.
