She may not have a mailbox there yet, but Catherine Forehand says she “sort of lives” at ATI Physical Therapy in Essex, MD. And, according to Catherine, it’s a pretty good place to live.

Catherine first came to ATI after undergoing laparoscopic shoulder surgery in June 2012. Unfortunately, the surgery didn’t go well, so Catherine was set to go back for another surgery six months later. In the meantime, she went to ATI to try and restore some function in her shoulder.

“Even though the surgery didn’t go well, physical therapy was great,” Catherine says. “I regained range of motion and was able to at least use my shoulder until my next surgery.”

One of Catherine’s favorite parts of ATI was the after-care program, which allowed her to come in and exercise to continue working her shoulder.

“Through the after-care program, I was able to keep my shoulder going so it wouldn’t deteriorate until my next surgery,” Catherine says.

She even recalls how closely each ATI clinic works together to provide the best for its patients.

“One time, I was waiting for my mother who had a doctor’s appointment, and there was an ATI next door,” Catherine says. “I went over and asked if I could do my after-care program, so they called Essex and got the okay for me to be there. They were very flexible, and it was great!”

Catherine had a second shoulder surgery in January and is now back at Essex for another round of physical therapy.

“I’ve been to two other PTs in the area, and ATI has been the best experience by far,” Catherine says. “The facility and equipment is very high quality and Kyle [Catherine’s therapist] is very professional, smart, and cautious. He takes time to do it right.”

Catherine was originally treated at ATI when it was still Baltimore Sports Rehab (BSR), and she notes that the merger with ATI has only benefitted the patients.

“BSR did a good job, and ATI’s kept that up,” Catherine said. “It’s the same people doing the same great work. I’d definitely come back again.”
