Aleena Niaz, age 5

Bloomingdale, IL

After suffering maternal trauma, Aleena is affected with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), a brain injury caused by oxygen deprivation to the brain. After a year, she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Today at five years old, she is non-verbal and non-mobile, but is getting stronger day by day. She has a happy temperament and now attends school five days a week. While she has come a long way and has high potential to grow and progress well, she continually needs assistance to pay for her ongoing therapies. She would like to continue intensive suit therapy and hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy, which have both shown to be very effective for Aleena, but are very costly.

Aleena’s mother, who suffers from a heart condition and has her own health concerns, is raising and caring for her daughter completely on her own. She wishes to give Aleena the best of what she needs to thrive in this world.
