What is Astym Therapy Treatment?

Astym therapy is a scientifically-based, non-invasive soft tissue treatment that is designed to regenerate healthy tissues, such as muscles, ligaments and tendons. Astym treatment targets thickened soft tissue, scar tissue and degeneration that may develop due to overuse, trauma or surgery.

The ultimate goal of Astym physical therapy is to restore movement and reduce pain by getting to the source of the problem rather than simply relieving symptoms. Our Astym-certified therapists will glide Astym tools, special plastic instruments, over the skin and muscles in the affected area. The use of these Astym therapy tools is to allow clinicians to contact, assess and treat soft tissue fibrosis in a way their hands cannot. This allows for a deeper assessment of the soft tissue layers with less wear and tear on their hands.
