Johnny Miller

One night in November 2012, Seaford resident Johnny Miller was at a dead stop waiting to turn left when his car was hit from behind, thrown into oncoming traffic, and immediately hit head-on by a dump truck.
Considering the severity of the accident, Johnny had relatively few external injuries; however, doctors soon discovered that he had quite a few internal injuries, including a tear in his aorta.
For three weeks, Johnny battled his injuries in the ICU. At the time, he could barely stand for more than five minutes, and it looked like he had a very long and painful road ahead.
As it turned out, the road was painful, but not quite as long as expected. Because of his determination, Johnny was ready to transfer to an outpatient physical therapy facility after completing some physical therapy at the hospital and at home.
Soon after starting physical therapy in Seaford, Johnny began the F.I.R.S.T. Work Conditioning Program to help him achieve his goal of getting back to work. Days later, he was already seeing results.
“I’m already leaps and bounds better,” said Johnny. “I know the program is challenging, and it’s definitely a step up from my regular therapy…but it’s working.”
Three months after his accident, Johnny had no problem standing, walking, and even jogging. During his daily four-hour F.I.R.S.T. program sessions, he was doing push-ups, biking, throwing and catching balls with his therapist, balancing on a board with one leg, and much more.
“I’d recommend ATI to anyone,” Johnny says. “Everyone is very friendly, and you can tell they are all very educated. They know what they’re doing; that’s clear by my own progress.”
