From the hills of Chester County to the heart of wine country in France, Cooke’s passion for biking has taken him many places, including the inside of ATI Physical Therapy in Pike Creek.

Cooke first went to ATI in December 2012 for complimentary injury screening. He had been experiencing knee pain, and a co-worker recommended that he visit Karen Stephens, a physical therapist at ATI Pike Creek. After his consultation, he slowed down his biking and other physical activities, but found himself back at ATI a few months later for a different issue – his foot.

Cooke had surgery for a torn tendon in his foot on March 26th and, when asked where he wanted to do follow-up therapy, he immediately answered “ATI.”

“I knew I wanted to go back to Karen,” Cooke said. “She knew just what to do – when to press hard and when to pull back.”

Cooke’s goal was an ambitious one: to be ready for a biking trip across France by the beginning of July.

“I scheduled my trip just days before I found out I needed surgery,” he said. “I was worried and really disappointed that I may not be able to go. My goal was to be ready to go by July 5th.”

And ready he was! Cooke had 28 visits to Karen & the ATI Pike Creek team and finished his last visit July 3rd, just two days before he departed for his biking trip in France.

“When I was on my trip, I didn’t even have to think about my foot,” Cooke said. “I did over 200 miles over the course of the trip, including a 60 miler in one day. We had stellar weather, my foot felt great, and it was just the perfect vacation.”

Now that Cooke is back from his adventures across France’s wine country, he’s back on his bike and tackling the hills of Chester County.

“I feel like I’m back in the saddle,” Cooke said. “Karen helped me get back to doing what I love. She has a great, buoyant personality, and kept me uplifted all throughout treatment. If I ever have to go to PT again, I know I’ll be going back to ATI.”
