Carrie: I know Colleen because we're both instructors for Prenatal University. She was currently receiving physical therapy at another clinic, but she was looking for a second opinion. She was complaining of things like vaginal pain, spasms during intercourse and afterwards, things like urinary urgency and frequency issues. She also had a history of two lumbar surgeries.
Colleen: My second surgery they did an incision in my abdomen instead of going through my back, which healed better and felt better but it seemed to have some damage to my pelvic floor area. That caused a lot of problems for me, it caused a lot of pain. I couldn't hold my pee, I was peeing my pants at the same time. Any kind of motion that would involve me doing a lot of walking, going up and down stairs, a lot of moving of my hips was a lot of pain. There was no 'sexy time,' there was no 'sexy time' at all, I couldn't handle that at all, which is depressing for everyone involved.
The first physical therapy company that I went to did not really seem to be helping. There were days where I sat in the corner and cried cause I couldn't do my exercises. I didn't get really any one-on-one time. I think part of the reasons it wasn't helpful, this is one of the first things that Carrie said to me, "I think we need to be in your pelvic floor, we need to be seeing what's happening, we need to be doing internal work." It was exactly what I needed. It was very clear, from one treatment to the next, that I was getting better.
Carrie: I think a lot of women hesitate to get the car that they deserve, and what they should have. Number one, a lot of them may think it's very normal to leak when they run, and leak when they laugh, and have some pain with intercourse. While these things are very common, I would say by no means are they normal, and women deserve to get better.
Colleen: ATI Women's Health has changed my life in more ways than I could tell you. Imagine your three-year-old crying, you can't pick him up, from the time he was three till he was about five, you can't pick him up at all. My marriage is better, I'm able to go out and have a social life and do things with my friends, I can finally work out and do things to make myself healthier and happier. I'm a million times happier and healthier, and I think it all comes back to all the good care I got here. Obviously, I've been to a few other places and they weren't as good. I will sing the praises of ATI forever.
