Cruisin 4 Kids 2016
On Saturday, August 27, 2016, the ATI Foundation hosted its 13th Annual Cruisin' for Kids (C4K) Motorcycle Ride and Celebration in Illinois! The day began at Skooters Roadhouse in Shorewood, IL, and riders enjoyed a scenic route through Morris, Ottawa and Yorkville before heading back to Skooters for a post-ride celebration. Foxy’s Ice Cream in Yorkville hosted an ice cream stop and donated 20% of all sales to the ATI Foundation. Skooters donated food before and after the ride.
More than 100 bikers and guests participated in the day’s events, raising $6,876.00 for the ATI Foundation, supporting local kids with physical impairments.
The highlights of this year's event were the special presentations given to Josiah and Jermajesty, a.k.a. Jack.
Josiah received $3,000 for a wheelchair ramp and lift for the family’s handicap-accessible van. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy makes it necessary for Josiah to spend most of his time in a wheelchair, and at the age of 13, he isn’t as easily transported without it. He was nominated by his grandfather who is a friend of our Oswego, IL clinic staff.
The ATI Foundation also presented a $3,000 check for Jermajesty, who was born with Cerebral Palsy. Latonya Williams, an employee at ATI Corporate Headquarters, nominated her adopted brother and brought the entire family to the event to surprise their mother. The family was overwhelmed by the assistance, and will be using the money for a wheelchair ramp and lift for their van.
The post-ride celebration also featured a special guest appearance by Nathan, one of our 2015 C4K beneficiaries who wasn’t able to attend last year, as he was in the hospital for a liver transplant. Nathan and his parents took the stage to share how the ATI Foundation’s assistance helped them through that difficult time, and everyone in attendance was able to see how the toddler is thriving today
