Meet Colleen . . . a wife, mother, childbirth educator and birth doula.

When back pain debilitated her life to the point of undergoing multiple back surgeries, she never imagined that she would end up in a more uncomfortable situation.

Colleen’s back issues eventually contributed to severe pelvic pain and dysfunction. So now she was not only limited how much she could walk, bend and lift . . . she was robbed of her ability to control her bladder, and even be intimate with her husband. It was no longer just painful – it had become impossible to tolerate.

After unsuccessful treatment elsewhere, Colleen became an advocate for her own care by contacting Carrie Koziol, a physical therapist specializing in Women’s Health at ATI Physical Therapy. Both women shared the same passion for being an advocate for one’s own health, and were both part of an organization called Prenatal University – founded by Colleen herself.

This organization brings professional educators together to empower women to make better choices during their pregnancy and birth experiences. It only made sense that these two came together to address the problems Colleen was experiencing.
