Massage Treatment
ART physical therapy is a patented, state-of-the-art, soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves.
An Active Release Therapist will use ART physical therapy to treat conditions such as:
- Headaches
- Back pain
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Shin splints
- Shoulder pain
- Sciatica
- Plantar fasciitis
- Knee problems
- Tennis elbow
These are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART physical therapy. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.

What is Active Release Technique?
Trauma, injury or repetitive overuse of tissue can result in fibrosis (thickening and scarring of connective tissue) and adhesions (scar tissue joining together body surfaces that are not usually connected). These conditions can result in pain, weakness, numbness, stiffness, limited mobility and decreased range of motion.
Utilizing Active Release Techniques, an Active Release Therapist employs massage-like movements to soft tissue to relieve tissue tension. This softening and stretching of specific muscles breaks down the tissue to restore motion, release nerve entrapment and improve flexibility and function of soft tissue.
ART Physical Therapy vs. Traditional Chiropractic Treatment: What’s the Difference?
An ART Physical Therapist uses massage and patient movement on targeted muscles to relieve pain and restore soft tissue, whereas a traditional Chiropractor makes “adjustments.” When soft tissue is the source of pain and inflammation, a traditional Chiropractic adjustment doesn’t usually provide the desired relief.
